Granville Students Headed to State Envirothon

Newark, OH (May 19, 2017) – The Granville Blue Envirothon team is headed to the State Envirothon Competition, June 11-13, at Ohio Christian University.

Granville Blue Envirothon TeamThey qualified for the state competition by placing first out of 39 teams at the Area 3 Envirothon held April 26.

Coached by Granville High School Teacher Jim Reding, the team includes Nathaniel Carlson, Jonny Lukins, Dustin Braden, Wesley Smith, Jack Beckerley.

Reding also coaches the Granville White team, which placed eighth in the Area 3 competition.

Granville White team includes Jason Reding, Logan Smith, Lance Van Ostran, Evan Noth, and Andy Hoben.

Teams study ecology and environmental science. Classes cover Envirothon information including soils, forestry, wildlife, aquatic ecology and current environmental issues. Students research issues independently and meet regularly to review Envirothon content knowledge.
