(Columbus, OH – March 15, 2018) The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has approved Franklin Township (Franklin County) and Licking County Soil & Water Conservation District as new members.

“We are pleased to welcome Franklin Township and Licking County Soil & Water Conservation District as an important part of the growing Central Ohio metropolitan area,” said MORPC Executive Director William Murdock. “Townships and our regional agencies are vital partners for MORPC, and are critical to our work on regional issues and services.”

Franklin Township will join MORPC as a full member with one representative from the township to serve as a voting member at MORPC board meetings. Licking County Soil & Water Conservation District will join as an associate member with one representative from the District serving as a non-voting member.

“I am pleased that Franklin Township has partnered up with MORPC,” states Franklin Township Fire Chief James Welch. “I look forward to the great changes it brings to the Township.”

“Licking Soil & Water is thrilled to contribute to innovative and mindful planning for people and natural resources,” said Denise Natoli Brooks, Licking County Soil & Water Conservation District Program Administrator. “We look forward to learning from the MORPC community.”

The MORPC board meets 10 times each year to discuss important regional issues, guide the direction of MORPC’s work, network with local leaders to discuss common problems, create solutions to shared regional challenges and provide input on funding decisions. Additional benefits of serving on MORPC’s board include grants and funding opportunities, educational forums, training and seminars, technical assistance and data, and policy development.
