Cover Crop Funding
Licking County Soil and Water Conservation District is now offering the 2025 Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) Cover Crop Program. Cover crops provide multiple potential benefits for landowners including providing nutrients, weed suppression, increased yield, improved soil health, water quality protection, and reduced production costs. This program provides funding to Licking County landowners and producers that follow certain criteria covered below. The funding encourages farmers to plant cover crops to enhance conservation efforts and productivity.
To be eligible for the program, you must meet the following criteria:
- A soil test from within the last 4 years
- Be on soybean or corn silage ground
- Copy of germ test
- Invoice of seed
Some guidelines for the cover crop program include:
- $12/acre
- Maximum of 175 acres per landowner/producer
- The fields CANNOT be receiving payments for cover crops from NRCS, but can receive from other private programs
The Licking County SWCD deadline to submit an application is July 9th, by 4:30 pm. Please email the filled-out application to TaylerCoy@lickingswcd.com or reach out regarding questions.
Applications will follow a ranking process; if approved, a completed application with the landowner will follow.
