STEMFest at The Works

Middle and high school students — STEMfest! is for you. Gather a team, or work individually, to solve a real-world STEM problem developed by area businesses. Winners receive awards as well as potential scholarships and internships. You’ll choose from one of three Problem Solving Challenges and present your solution to a panel of judges during our STEMfest! competition. You’ll also have the chance to learn about STEM careers from local businesses during our hands-on career show and tell. All are welcome to attend STEMfest! to watch the competition and learn about local STEM industries and career opportunities.

2020 Problem Solving Challenges:

Engineering Design – Bridge Architecture: Presented by Newark City Engineers and Central Ohio Technical College (Middle School Only)
Materials Engineering – Engineered Concrete: Presented by Central Ohio Technical College and The American Ceramics Society
Environmental Impact Challenge – Pollution & Water Quality: Presented by Denison University Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
Thermal Energy Challenge – Home Insulation Efficiency: Presented by Owens Corning Science and Technology Center

Students — gain hands-on experience in STEM fields while connecting with local STEM industry professionals and community members at our signature STEM event

Ages: Middle and high school students

Cost: STEMfest! team participation is FREE. STEMfest! attendance is FREE and Open to the Public.
