A little background detail…
As environmental students at Denison University, we have been given the opportunity to work as an extension of the Licking County Soil and Water Conservation District. Throughout our work, we have been assessing and gathering information about the Headwaters of Raccoon Creek. This has led us to develop a website containing the history and present conditions of the watershed and future pressures it may face.

The Headwaters of Raccoon Creek is our area of focus due to the lack of general knowledge regarding the quality of the watershed coupled with the nearby addition of Intel.

The lack of awareness of the watershed has led to a rise in concerns due to the negative impacts it can impose on surrounding habitats as well as our water quality. For these reasons, along with many others, it is vital that action is taken to equip those in the surrounding area with the ability to recognize and address pressing issues.

Therefore, sparking interest in the surrounding communities in order to increase education and awareness will serve a critical purpose to provide the headwaters with the support that it needs in face of environmental pressures and the addition of Intel. As a result, we are inviting you to a town hall meeting to discuss the creation of a Headwaters of Racoon Creek advocacy group. In this town hall, we will discuss the importance and purposes of watersheds as well as hold an open discussion regarding the ecological impacts that will soon be imposed by Intel in the coming years. Below is a fact sheet including general information about Raccoon Creek that we hope you will take the time to look at.
